Matsumoto Castle is one of my favourite castles in Japan. Not only does it have incredibly well preserved wooden interiors and stonework from the 16th century, it also reflects beautifully in the surrounding moat.

It also looks great lit up at night, and you can climb the narrow stairs inside the castle keep and explore the museum inside.
