Taken late at night, on a nightwalk through the dark jungle, this photo shows one of my favourite species in Costa Rica: the red-eyed tree frog. To me it always looked more orange than red, but either way it has fantastically vibrant coloring!

This particular individual was in the Tortugero National Park, a fantastic place to see wildlife in pristine surroundings - whether by boat or kayak paddling through the rivers, or on foot walking the jungle trails. Aside from Tortugero, Costa Rica has many other great national parks, from the small and very easily accessible like Manuel Antonio to the huge and remote like Corcovado.
